AI Specialist Team · Parent Support

When the parenting itself is the hard part.

The AI Parent Support specialist is one of seven inside the Kiri app. Grounded in ACOG, Postpartum Support International, and AAP family wellness guidance. Not a substitute for therapy or crisis care, but a real source of support between sessions.

A parent taking a quiet moment

What parents actually ask

Most parenting advice on the internet is about the baby. But the parent is also having a hard time, and there is not as much help for that part. The AI Parent Support specialist is designed for the questions about you — the resentment, the loneliness, the exhaustion, the identity shift — alongside the practical day-to-day.

  • Is it normal to feel resentful of my partner since the baby came?

  • I haven't slept more than 3 hours straight in a month. Am I depressed or just exhausted?

  • I cry every afternoon and then feel guilty about it.

  • How do I tell the difference between baby blues and something more serious?

  • I love my baby and I also miss my old life. Is that OK?

  • We keep fighting about the same thing every night. What do we do?

Why it's different from a general chatbot

The Parent Support is purpose-built for its domain. Four constraints baked in.

Real evidence about parent mental health

Postpartum mood and anxiety conditions affect roughly 1 in 5 parents and most go undiagnosed. The Specialist uses the actual screening criteria (EPDS, PHQ-9) and points you to real resources when the answers suggest you need more than support.

No platitudes

“Self-care” isn't a bubble bath. The Specialist offers practical, evidence-based strategies — and is honest when the answer is “this is genuinely hard and there is no fix, only support.”

Both parents matter

Postpartum depression affects partners too. The Specialist is designed to support whichever parent is asking, including the one who didn't give birth.

Knows when to escalate

Suicidal thoughts, thoughts of harming the baby, or any safety concern — the Specialist immediately surfaces the postpartum crisis hotline (1-833-TLC-MAMA) and tells you to call your provider today. Not in three days. Today.

Grounded in trusted sources

Every answer is anchored to one or more of the following. The Specialist names the source when the parent asks why.

American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)

Committee Opinion on screening and treatment of perinatal depression and anxiety; current postpartum care framework.

Postpartum Support International (PSI)

Clinical guidance on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, the most widely-used screening tools, and the national helpline (1-800-944-4773).

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)

Diagnostic criteria for postpartum depression, anxiety, and OCD; current treatment evidence.

AAP family wellness guidance

Including the AAP's explicit recommendation that pediatricians screen parents for postpartum depression at well-child visits.

Frequently asked questions

Is this therapy?

No. The AI Parent Support specialist is a source of evidence-based information, peer-level support, and practical strategies. For diagnosis and treatment of postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, or psychosis, you need a real clinician — and the Specialist will tell you when that's the right next step.

What if I'm having thoughts of harming myself or my baby?

Stop reading this and call the Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262), or text the Crisis Text Line at HOME to 741741, or call 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). All three are free, confidential, and available 24/7. The Specialist will surface these same resources in-app if any answer suggests safety risk.

Does my partner have access to this?

Both parents can use Kiri and have their own conversations with the Specialist. The Specialist understands that the non-birthing parent also experiences postpartum mood changes and benefits from support.

Is what I tell it private?

Yes. Everything you share with the Specialist is encrypted and not sold to advertisers. See our privacy policy for the full disclosure.

Whatever you're going through right now, you don't have to figure it out alone.
